The minor child of a Legal Permanent Resident does not have a visa number readily available and has to wait until their priority date is current in the F2A preference category.
In the event that a number becomes available before the minor child turns 21, the minor retains his child status and does not age out according to the provisions in the Child Status Protection Act.
